Dear Beelink,

Answer from beelinkservice@bee-link.com

SII M.2 expansion port supports M.2 SATA type, NVMe type is currently not supported.
SII can expand 2.5-inch hard drive, with SATA3.0 interface, external transmission rate of 6Gps

The short answer is no it does not support M.2 NVMe (or AHCI) SSD. It only supports M.2. 2242/2280 SATA SSD

My system came with a M.2 2280 SATA 128G SSD, model FORESEE S40RF128G

Here are some examples upgraded SSD sticks that should work. Note that I have not tried any of these.

Samsung EVO 850 (MZ-N5E250BW/MZ-N5E500BW/MZ-N5E1T0BW)
Samsung EVO 860 (MZ-N6E250BW/MZ-N6E500BW/MZ-N6E1TBW)
WD BLUE SSD (WDS250G1B0B/WDS500G1B0B/WDS100T1B0B)
Crucial MX500 (CT250MX500SSD4/CT500MX500SSD4/CT1000MX500SSD4)

Refer the the post "Beelink SII Set power on auto power on function". It has a very detail description of cracking the case to replace the M.2 SSD. Two quick notes on that post, the screwdriver in the photos would not work to remove the four screws under the rubber feet, you need a long (1-2") narrow shaft on the screwdrivers, second, in step 5, be very careful on thewifi cable between the motherboard/wifi module, and the antenna on the top case.

To install just remove the tiny Phillip-head screw at top and lift and pull m.2 module up and out of connector. Do not lose the tiny screw, it did not seem to be stick to my magnetic screw driver.

If you have a m.2 2242 SATA SSD, There is a screw to support that size, but you will need to unscrew the post that is the motherboard from the 2280 screw location and move it to the 2242 location. When I tried it, there seemed to be a plastic coating over the 2242 motherboard screw hole. I used the Phillips-head screw driver to in the hole to open the screw hole up for the post. Not the easiest thing to do with my eyesight…

FYI, I use a Sabrent M.2 SSD [NGFF] to USB 3.0 / SATA III 2.5-Inch Aluminum Enclosure Adapter (EC-M2CU) with the old M.2 SATA SSD module to migrate files back to the new SSD. It is a pretty handy USB3 drive, too. There are other vendors with similar products, but I have no experience with them.
